OPINION:
I was disappointed in this book. The book is mainly about Elv, but while reading it you really don't care much about her. The book has a sort of whimsical quality, like it wants to be something else. It just doesn't seem very put together, like maybe it was rushed. I did like Claire's story. If you like Alice Hoffman you will buy it and probably be disappointed because it is not up to her usual standards. If you have never read a book by Alice Hoffman please don't let this book be your first. Read Green Angel, Practical Magic, The Third Angel or any of her others before you read this. The best thing about the book was the edgy pages, I thought that was unique. Ms. Hoffman said she was involved with the design of the book, but the edgy pages were a pleasant surprise.
LOL...I loved this book, I think Im the only one....Im a big Hoffman fan, I dont know why it struck such a cord with me...I just thought the writing was different and the story unpredictable.Practical Magic was is my fav from her....;D
ReplyDeleteHi Tina,
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Alice Hoffman's too. I don't know why I didn't like it. I heard that she was actually working on a series of fairytales (those little ones before each chapter) and she decided to make it into this book instead. I don't know if you like "Green Angel," but she is writing the sequel "Green Witch." I can't wait. :)
