Welcome

This is a place for my opinions on what I read, some movies or whatever else I find interesting. I love reading. I can find something positive about everything I read, at least I hope I can. I understand it takes a great deal of love and effort to write a book and to get it published. An author does not set out to write a crappy book, this is/was their baby. They got up at all hours of the night to feed it.

I don't see how you can give a true review of a book rushing through it. Don't you need to savor it a bit? I don't want my opinion to discourage anyone from reading. I hope you find something here you find interesting.

I buy most of my books, I get a few ARC, and I visit my library when my funds are low. I'm not trying to get you to buy anything by my opinions on the books I've read. I don't care if you buy it, borrow it, or check it out at the library. Just read. :)

Fairy Tale

SUMMARY: Morgan and Cam are a match made in heaven. They've been best friends since birth, they have been a couple since grade school, they share the same birthday and they live right next to one another.
Weeks before their joint sweet sixteen party, everything changes. Cam's awkward cousin Pip comes to stay, and Cam starts acting distant. Morgan is stunned when her formerly perfect boyfriend seems to be drifting away.
When Morgan demands answers, she's shocked to discover the reason for Cam's distance. It isn't another girl, it's another world. Pip claims that Cam is a fairy. And now his people want Cam to return to their world and take his rightful place as Fairy King.
Determined to keep Cam with her, Morgan plots to fool the fairies. But as Cam continues to change, she has to decide once and for all if he really is her destiny, and if their perfect love can weather an uncertain future.

OPINION:
I love fairies, as you can probably tell, so I was very excited to read this book. I started reading, ready to love it and the unthinkable happens: "Oh no I don't like the main character", Morgan, who's the narrator of this whole book. She seemed like a snob and mean, but thankfully I did start to like her, or a least understand her. I just had to wrap my head around this is a fifteen year old and she has a special gift, she can see peoples future's, so I can understand how she acts in the first few chapters. You would feel you're pretty special and a little cocky too at that age.

I love that this book is about a boy being a fairy. Pip and Cam were switched at birth. As Cam grows closer to his sixteenth birthday his body starts to transform into his fairy form, something only Cam and Morgan can see. The fairies have sent Dawn, Cam's intended bride in Otherworld, to help prepare and guide him back to his true home.

Cam is quarterback of the football team, he is beloved by the town, and loves Morgan more than anything. When Cam starts transforming he loses his ability to play football, he becomes weak and depressed. The only thing keeping him from joining the fairies is Morgan and their love. Morgan sees how unhappy Cam is becoming and wonders if their love is enough for Cam to want to stay. In Otherworld he would be king, but here he will be a shadow of the person he once was.

Cam and Morgan are desperate to stay together, so Morgan and Pip think of a plan to keep Cam out of Otherworld. Morgan thinks the fairies have put a spell on her when she begins to have feelings for Pip, the boy she was always meant to be with. Morgan is confused between the her feeling for Cam and Pip. And is tortured by the chance of losing Cam to the fairies of Otherworld or if he stays watching him slowly lose himself.

"I can only hope that when it's all over, I'm more relieved than sad." -Morgan

I really enjoyed reading it. It was a really fast read for me. Cyn Balog has another book Sleepless coming out in 2010.

  2. Hi Dannie,
I actually checked this book out of the library and left a fortune from a fortune cookie on chapter 13 as an memento for the next person(when you read the book you'll know why). I do want to put it on my list of books to buy, because i'd like to read it again someday. :)

Book Odor Removal:

I bought a book at a library book sale, it had a strange odor. Someone gave me this suggestion to remove the smell, and it worked, so I thought I'd share.
Put the book in a ziploc bag along with 1/3 cup(more or less) of Arm & Hammer baking soda and seal shut. Leave the book alone for 2 or 3 days. It worked for me, hope it helps you too.
